As we make out way through week 12 of lockdown I’m pondering what’s helping everyone thorugh?
We’ve had the news this week that schools are unlikely to go back until September at the earliest. Usually our biggest work/kids challenge is the summer holidays. But somehow we have to balance being productive, earning a wage and looking after the kids for at least 5 or 6 months.
This is me (on the right) and my sister scrapping over a sketchbook. Don’t mess with my sketchbook. I always win.
So how are we going to get through? There seems to be a lot of screen time in our house. A lot of Fortnite, a lot of Modern Family and a lot of social media and online shopping. All OK in moderation but none of it particularly wholesome or brilliant for our menatl health.
We’ve definately been getting a rut recently and energy has been at a low ebb. Thankfully I’m on a work journey with the wonderful Debbie Clarke who has suggested we write lists of what depletes us and what energises us.
I have no problem with this but getting the fam involved has been tricky. So, as with all problems, I turned to art.
I’ve made a pretty to encourage everyone to write down the things that are good for them (and could do more of). And the things that are not so good for them (and could do less of).
So far so good – apart from some mild mockery ir hasn’t gone too badly.
Anyway. Here it is. It’s a freebie for you. And I wholeheartedly suggest you grab a cuppa and have a think about what’s going to get you through. Then stick it on your fridge and do at least one of these things every day.
Me? I’ll be attempting, as always, as much outdoor time as possible, come rain or shine. Music as always (may I recommend UWA by Pongo for it’s sheer enerygy and wonderful video) and art. Sketching, painting, creating – with or without the kids.
Keep going people. It ain’t an easy ride but with a little adjustment we can definately get there.
Big love x
