Welcome back Independents!

How wonderful to see the recent re-opening of many independent shops who’ve had to shut during lockdown!

I’ve been a big fan of shopping independently, locally and ethically for many years now. Not only am I surrounded by amazing businesses at Sneinton Market (read more about this here) but I also have the pleasure of stocking lots of independent shops. They are treasure troves of goodies, each with their own unique footprint. Unlike the giants, the buyers for these independents stamp their own unique mark on their shop so you’ll be sure to find a different and unique offering in each.

So who’s open? Well LuLuB is! It’s so lovely to be able to pop round and pick up cards and gifts. A little bit of normality! Better still their gorgeous coffee machine has whirred back into action for takeaways and for socially distanced sit ins. They’ve also re-done the garden during lockdown so you can sit “out back” and enjoy their beautiful planting.

Also open is the lovely Bookcase at Lowdham. I don’t think there is a better way to waste an hour than to browse books in a lovely setting like this. Long live our independent book shops!!

The wonderful Cherrydidi has re-opened both its Ambleside and Keswick shops so you can get your fix of gorgeous ethical gifts and Zak the collie dog!

Locally Produced for You is also open with a socially distanced lampshade workshop on the 23rd July.

Shop Indie in Chesterfield is also open once again for business.

I could go on and on and on but I won’t. Suffice to say that if you can get to an independent and support them at this time then please do. It will mean the world to them and we want us all to still be here when all this is over.

Me? I’m home with the kids so orders are still via the website with an aim to re-open the studio in September (kids being back at school dependent). However, Sneinton Market is holding it’s first socially distanced market with Nottingham Street Food and coffee from Blend.

Seeing the Market spring back to life again in the past few days has been a joy. If you need to get out at the weekend and want to feel safe this would be a good bet.

Thanks as always for supporting all of us independents. Stay safe and have a lovely weekend!
